A 72-year-old shopkeeper has fought off a knife-wielding robber in regional Queensland.

CCTV footage shows the man over-powering the offender after he tried to enter the store in Dalby, west of Toowoomba.

Police are on the hunt for the man, who was wearing a ‘Tapout’ martial arts branded jumper when he fled towards Coutts St, near the town showgrounds.

The attempted robbery allegedly happened on October 26, with the man described as being around 180cm tall with a slim build and aged in his early 20s.

Along with the jumper, the man was wearing a black coloured glove on his right hand, a white t-shirt covering his face, grey track pants and thongs.

He was also carrying a reusable green shopping bag.

Anyone who may have seen him on the night of October 26 is urged to contact the Dalby police.
