Braves sign OF Bourjos, may add INF Flaherty

The Atlanta Braves signed outfielder Peter Bourjos to a one-year contract on Sunday, according to multiple sources.

The deal is reportedly worth $1 million, according to MLB Trade Rumors.com.

Bourjos was released by the Chicago Cubs on Friday.

Bourjos, who turns 31 on March 31, has a .241 career average with 42 homers and 164 RBIs in eight big-league campaigns with the Los Angeles Angels, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays. He batted .223 with five homers and 15 RBIs last season for the Rays.

Atlanta also is reportedly close to a deal with infielder Ryan Flaherty, who recently opted out of his minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Flaherty, 31, spent the past six seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. He has a .215 career average with 35 homers and 128 RBIs.
