‘I quickly look to both of my sides to see if I would be able to divert from this massive and dangerous piece of wood, but I saw that if I moved my car rapidly I would certainly hit other cars at the same speed and would cause a massive incident,’ she said.
She kept her calm and knew she couldn’t swerve as the wooden stake smashed into the ground in front of her car and split in half.
One half of the stake then bounced up and smashed through her windscreen in a terrifying sequence of events.

‘I just remember closing my eyes and holding the steering wheel tightly for a couple of seconds, expecting that the wood would cross my heart or my face as a massive arrow,’ she said.
‘Thousandths of a second later I realised that I was still alive and then I checked my body with one of my hands to ensure that the wood or smashed glass had not reached my body.’
The stake and smashed glass miraculously left Miss Camargo unscathed. It had wedged itself between the driver and passenger seat of her car.

Another women managed to over take the truck and alert him to what had happened and he stopped his truck.
Queensland Police said they did not receive any official reports about the accident, but the company which owns the truck, Ocean Trailers and Marine, were alerted.
Co-owner Warren Wink said an incident of this kind had not occurred for in 18 years and that it was caused by their new employee not checking his load properly.
