Multiple people are injured in knife attack at Swedish mall

  • Two people were taken to hospital with one of these people seriously injured
  • There has been one arrest after the knife attack at around 8.30am this morning

Multiple people have been injured in a knife attack at a Swedish mall. 

Two people have been taken to hospital with one of these people seriously injured in central Västerås after the attack at 8.30am. 

Police are not ruling out any more individuals being hurt in the attack. 

Magnus Jansson Klarin, a police spokesman, said there has been one arrest and they did not suspect anyone else of involvement. 

He added: ‘We receive several calls in a short time that there has been several [people] injured.’ 

According to information to Aftonbladet, police haved confirmed the people were injured with a sharp object. The incident is being investigated as an attempted murder.   

Mr Klarin adds: ‘We can not rule out that more people have been injured, he continues.

‘[The area] has been blocked off and the police have a large presence at the [scene].’

Back in March, two women who were stabbed at a high school in Southern Sweden died from their injuries. 

Both were both said to be employees at the school and in their 50s. 

An 18-year-old student was later arrested after their death.
