SWAT team swoops in as two active shooters with long guns open fire at Jersey City bodega injuring at least one officer and sending 12 schools into lockdown

At least one police officer has been injured in an active shooter situation at a bodega in Jersey City.
Police are believed to have been responding to a call about two armed suspects inside the bodega at 223 Martin Luther King Drive near Bidwell Avenue around noon Tuesday when gunfire erupted.
Officers reported in radio transmission that two gunmen appeared to be shooting people at random as they passed by the storefront.
The suspects reportedly arrived in the area in a U-Haul van, each carrying long guns.

One injured officer was taken to Jersey City Medical Center with an apparent shoulder injury.
WABC reported that the officer was shot in Bay View Cemetery before the gunman or gunmen fled into the bodega.
NBC4 quoted Hudson County officials as saying that two officers had been shot in an ‘ambush’.
Authorities have not officially confirmed the number of shooters or victims as the active shooter situation is ongoing.
County SWAT teams are at the scene and Martin Luther King Drive has been closed from both directions.
The Sacred Heart School was placed on lockdown after gunshots rang out across the street.
Jersey City Board of Education President Sudhan Thomas confirmed that both Lincoln and Snyder high schools are on lockdown, as well as Schools 12, 14, 29, and 41.
