2006 – Lara Bingle affair 

Brendan split with wife Alex in 2006 after a brief affair with Australian model Lara Bingle, then 19. 

Brendan, who was 26 at the time, and Lara, then a 19-year-old bikini model, reportedly met on the set of The Footy Show in Sydney and allegedly spent time together in Melbourne on several occasions.

Lara has previously claimed she did not know Brendan was married at the time, telling The Daily Telegraph in 2009 she only discovered his marital status when she heard his baby daughter crying while they were speaking on the phone.  

Brendan and Alex reconciled 14 months later after the affair came to light.

2006 – Assaults a barman in Ireland 

He was sent home from Australia’s tour of Ireland after assaulting a barman at a Galway nightclub.

2008 – Urinates outside nightclub

He was fined $10,000 by his then-club Carlton for urinating on a nightclub window. 

He was also stood down from leadership at his club after the incident. 

2009 – Brandishes sex toys at Carlton celebrations 

He dressed up in a nightie and obscenely brandished a sex toy during Carlton’s Mad Monday celebrations.  

Video footage of the incident taken on a mobile phone was posted on YouTube.

‘Fev had a foot-long dildo hanging out of his pink muu-muu in full public view outside the bar,’ an unnamed witness told news.com.au at the time.

‘I saw him hit a couple of girls on the head with it. It was a bit off-putting.’

2009 – Footy Show scandal 

He was banned from appearing on the Grand Final Footy Show after behaving inappropriately at the Brownlow Medal ceremony.

The former Carlton and Brisbane star had infamously interviewed players and WAGs while heavily intoxicated.

Brendan, who was working for Channel Nine’s AFL Footy Show at the time, pretended to attack then-Carlton superstar Chris Judd, made sexual jokes to his partner Bec, kissed Sydney Swans midfielder Ryan O’Keefe and snapped at the condescension of James Hird. 

He left Carlton shortly after the fallout.

2010 – Lara Bingle nude photo 

A nude image of Lara in the shower resurfaced from her alleged affair with Brendan after it was reportedly circulated around football circles.

2010 – Suicide attempt

He tried to commit suicide after losing almost a million dollars through gambling in late 2010.

He drank four bottles of red wine and harmed himself after having a fight with Alex. 

 ‘I just thought the easiest way to go was to do this and to put everyone out of their pain… by giving the pain to myself,’ he told Fox Sports.

He revealed that it was his mother who found him in his drunken state following his suicide attempt. 

‘It wasn’t fair on my mum, it’s not fair on anyone… it was very, very stupid and immature,’ he said.

2011 – Rehab for drinking and gambling

Brendan ended up going to rehab for gambling as well as drinking and depression for 60 days and was sacked from playing AFL while there.

‘Being sacked was probably the best thing that ever happened to me though, because then I got out of “the bubble”, and I was fine. It was really weird,’ he recalled afterwards. 

‘I’d keep everything in, and then I’d have a drink and I’d act out, because everything was built up.’ 

2013 – Declares himself bankrupt

In late 2013, he declared himself bankrupt after much of his fortune disappeared due to gambling. 

2014 – Alex files for divorce  

Former model Alex, 39, filed for divorce after nine years of marriage in April.

2015 – Brendan and Alex reunite 

In October the pair reunited, with Brendan explaining that he started ‘listening’ more to Alex, instead of being distracted by other things. 

2016 – Appears on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here

He went on the reality show in early 2016, where he gave candid admissions about drinking and gambling and won the competition.

Brendan discussed the Footy Show scandal on the program and remained adamant that he didn’t regret his behaviour.

‘No I had a great time,’ he said. ‘I didn’t hurt anyone. I was really p**sed, if you didn’t notice.’

But later, he seemed willing to accept blame for his actions and told his fellow campers: ‘It was my own fault.’ 

2016 – Scores a radio gig 

After his win, he made the foray into radio in April 2016 and became one-third of FOX FM’s Fifi, Fev and Byron with radio co-hosts Fifi Box and Byron Cooke.

2016 – Proposes to ex-wife Alex 

Brendan popped the question to Alex in July, going down on one knee surrounded by their friends and family.
