A bride has been criticized for wearing $1000 sneakers with her wedding reception dress – and the look has been branded ‘hideous’ by unimpressed social media users.

The anonymous person’s ensemble was shared on Facebook group That’s It, I’m Wedding Shaming on Monday, by a woman from Massachusetts.

In the two photographs posted online, the bride clings to the arm of her new husband as they share a sweet embrace.

But it wasn’t the affectionate pose that caught most peoples’ eye – rather the Christian Louboutin sneakers the newly wed opted to pair with her feather-embellished reception dress.

Internet users were quick to express their disgust for the $1,000 shoes, with the post being liked nearly 500 times and commented on by more than 600 people.

One person wrote: ‘They’re not even like cute bridal sneakers. They’re gym sneakers. That is pretty bad.’

Another said: ‘I fully expected to open the photo to some kind of wedding style sneakers. But this… This is just bad.’

‘The shoes are hideous and her dress looks like a feather duster’, a third added, as another said: ‘They are the ugliest shoes I have ever seen. Why spend $1,000?’

The photographs were posted with the caption: ‘This appeared on my timeline. I met this girl once but she had amazing style and taste.

‘And then she wears sneakers at her wedding? with a short dress? Come on guys… to be fair this was her second outfit.’

Yet it wasn’t just the bride’s shoes that caught the attention of social media users, as the groom’s choice of footwear was also criticized.

The unidentified man teamed his smart black suit with what appeared to be black velvet slip-ons, while forgoing a pair of socks.

Commenting on the look, one person said: ‘Why is he legit wearing slippers? Those are not velvet slip-ons and we all know it.

A second shocked person asked: ‘Are those grandpa slippers?’, as another said: ‘He’s in house slippers.’
