Bride slammed for ‘hideous’ bridesmaid dresses

A distraught woman has turned to the Internet to plead for help in telling a bride she doesn’t want to wear a bridesmaid’s dress she can’t stand.

While some may love the bold style, this particular bridesmaid-to-be took to a social media forum and described the creation as ‘fugly’ and a ‘monstrosity’.

She also revealed she’s not the only one who dislikes the choice, saying the other women in the bridal party ‘hate the dress she has picked’.

‘She has found it online with her DM [darling mum] and it is honestly the fugliest dress I have ever seen,’ she wrote.

The dress the bridesmaids have been told they have to wear costs £144.00 (AUD$260.00)

The woman said the group had decided to take a stand and confront the bride who wants them to wear the £144.00 (AUD$260.00) yellow taffeta dress – one they are expected to pay for themselves.

‘So am I being unreasonable to tell her that we do not want to wear and pay for these monstrosities?’ She wrote on a Mumsnet forum.

‘How do I do that without upsetting her? She’s so stressed and I don’t want to add to that,’ she added.

The woman also uploaded a photo showing the dress, stating the bride had chosen the yellow version for her and the other bridesmaids to wear.

The post received a massive response from others on the site, with many offering advice on the thread about how to handle the delicate situation.

One wrote: ‘I don’t know how you go about that conversation but they are seriously hideous! You can’t wear that!’

‘S***, for THAT?!?, another said before adding: ‘If she was paying, I’d suck it up but why should you spend £144 on something you’re going to wear once and then throw in the bin.

‘That’s before you have spent out on the hen do, wedding accommodation, shoes, underwear, hair, makeup, drinks on the day and other things.’

While a third said writing: ‘And yeah everything about that dress is grim! No one will wear it again.’

However, there were also a few who chimed in with their own opinions on the dress itself, with one person writing ‘It looks like something out of “Big Fat Gypsy Weddings”‘.

‘Is it a Disney themed wedding?’ Another asked.

‘Sorry – I’ve nothing further to add apart from I hope it goes well, and she can see sense,’ they wrote.

‘Perhaps a gentle reminder that she will still be looking at the photos in 20, 30, 40 years.’
