Bride slams her ‘classless’ bridesmaid for dying her hair red

Bride shames her own bridesmaid for dying her hair red before the wedding and says it’ll look ‘tacky’ with her blush pink dress – sparking a furious debate

  • A bride has complained about her bridesmaid for dying her hair red
  • The bride said it isn’t appropriate to have bright hair at a wedding
  • She said it isn’t a ‘classy’ thing to do; hasn’t told her about it

A panicked bride-to-be has been slammed after publicly shaming her bridesmaid for dying her hair bright red a week before the wedding.

Writing on a ‘Wedding Shaming’ Facebook group, the bride said she had hoped her big day would be a ‘classy affair’ but now believes it will be ruined by her friend’s new locks.

The anonymous woman hasn’t told her bridesmaid yet because she ‘hates confrontation’. Instead she posted in a bid to receive sympathy from strangers about how the hair colour would impact her group wedding photos.

‘She knows how soon the wedding is and thought bright red would be appropriate,’ the future bride moaned.

‘Not to mention she is wearing a blush pink dress, how tacky is that going to be?’

The bride didn’t get the reaction she’d hoped for, however, with many slamming her for prioritising aesthetics over friendship.

‘Bridesmaids are your friends not your photo props,’ one critic said.

‘Oh no a hair color how can you even go forward with the wedding now? The whole thing is ruined,’ laughed another.

A woman who was married recently also shared her view, slamming the bride and highlighting her ironically ‘classless’ approach to the situation.

‘You say you want a classy wedding, yet you get on Facebook to whine about your bridesmaid. Something doesn’t add up,’ she wrote.

Another added: ‘I had/have bright red hair and had a blush color dress for my best friends wedding, yikes on all levels of your attitude,’ she wrote.

A third woman who lost her best friend 20 years ago said she’d do anything to have her there on the big day, hoping to add some much-needed perspective to the argument.

‘My best friend died 20 years ago last month. When I get married, she won’t be there. I won’t have photos of her in a maid of honor or bridesmaid dress standing next to me,’ she wrote.

‘Consider yourself lucky because I know someday when I get married that I would give anything for my best friend to be there and standing next to me no matter how she looked or what she wore. Get your priorities straight.’

A woman who dyes her hair bright colours regularly gave her two cents as well and suggested those who do so should chat to the bride beforehand to avoid conflict.

‘Once upon a time I had bright blue hair and was asked to be made of honour,’ one woman said.

‘I asked the bride if she wanted me to dye my hair a normal colour, I would do that for my childhood bestie, she said absolutely not – she didn’t want me to change who I am for her day. And that’s real friendship.’

A few in the minority did agree with the bride, saying last minute drastic changes should be discussed prior to the ceremony if they will be in photos.

Most did agree, however, that if the wedding had a theme, all major appearance changes should be run by the couple as stylised photos will be impacted more than usual.
