An obese bride-to-be who refused to tie the knot in a size 24 wedding dress has shed 51 kilograms by making one simple diet tweak.
When Breeana North’s husband proposed she knew she couldn’t walk down the aisle weighing 122kg and she refused to ‘squeeze’ her obese frame into a size 24 wedding dress.
And it wasn’t just Breeana who saw results, with her now husband Tye, 29, also losing 101 kilograms for the big day so he could fit into his tux.
The 24-year-old from the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, kept a picture of her dream wedding gown in the back of her mind as motivation to lose weight and both she and Tye decided to switch to a strict ketogenic diet.

‘When Tye proposed to me, I was over the moon but a wave of sadness washed over me at the same time. I knew I wanted to marry him, but not the way we were,’ Breeana, a customer service assistant, said.
‘We were both so obese and had terrible eating habits. We would binge on mountains of fried food, sweet treats and drink four litres a soft drink daily between us without issue.’
Breeana told Tye, a security officer, that she would only marry him if they made a solid effort to get healthy, and he agreed.
‘I’d heard of the keto diet before but was really skeptical. I thought it was just another fad diet,’ Breeana said.

‘But I saw people having amazing results and decided to give it a go. I’m so glad I tried it because it’s worked so much better than any other diet out there.
‘We’re so used to trying to avoid fat, and the thought of eating a high-fat diet was baffling. But it’s made me feel better than I ever have in my entire life.’
Just a few days after going keto, the pair said they had a lot more energy, they were sleeping better, they had better skin and were all round happier.
‘We threw out everything bad we had in the fridge and started again with keto-friendly foods,’ Breeana said.

‘Tye and I also got a personal trainer and began going to the gym five days a week. The weight just began melting off. It was incredible.’

‘I felt like a princess on my wedding day. I never imagined I’d ever fit into a size six gown. I even had to get it taken in a little as it was slightly too big,’ Breeana said.
‘And to see Tye healthier too after the losing the weight was such a good feeling. He still has a long journey ahead of him, but he is very determined. It’s so inspiring.
‘I couldn’t have done it without him by my side.’
‘It was the best thing we could have done for our relationship,’ she said

The bullying she experienced because of her weight became so severe that she dropped out of school in year 11.
‘I had a really hard time. People would throw my schoolbag in the bin, follow me home, taunt me and just make my life hell because I was fat,’ she recalled.
Life after school only became worse as she isolated herself at home and comfort ate around the clock – but after meeting Tye on an online dating site, she fell in love ‘straight away’.
‘We actually used to struggle to fit onto a queen size bed, and I couldn’t even put my arms around him properly for a hug. But now we’re very passionate and closer than ever,’ she said

‘I’d always just wear tracksuits or big baggy jumpers with leggings. I thought it hid my fat, but it just made me look worse,’ she said.
‘It feels incredible to be able to go into any store and find something in my size. I have so much more confidence. Doing this with the love of my life has been so rewarding. We really motivate and inspire each other.
