Bride-to-be having a $100,000 Lake Como wedding hits back at criticism
A bride-to-be, Liz Inglisa from Chicago, who booked a $100,000 wedding venue in Lake Como, has responded to criticism that she is ‘forcing’ guests to travel to Italy. She’s getting married in August 2024 at Villa Balbiano and recently used TikTok to defend her choice against claims that a destination wedding is ‘rude.’ Liz has been openly sharing wedding planning updates with her 26,600 followers ever since the proposal on a private sunset cruise around the Amalfi coast. The luxury venue, which has featured in movies like Casino Royale comes with a hefty price tag.
In the latest clip, which has been viewed more than 20,000 times, Liz responds to one comment left under her post which said it was ‘so rude to force people to travel for a wedding.’ She begins: ‘Is it rude to force people to travel for a destination wedding? ‘As most of you guys know, my fiance and I are having our wedding in Lake Como next August which means lots of family and friends are flying out to Italy to celebrate us.’ The bride-to-be continues: ‘The most important being that it has always been a dream of ours to have a destination wedding. ‘Second because our friends and family were so thrilled to hear about the idea and also something this person doesn’t know is that we are having a ceremony at home where we live for all of the guests who can’t make it.’
Liz concluded: ‘So absolutely no one is forced to travel for our wedding but a lot of people are so excited to take that European summer adventure and then do a stop in Lake Como to celebrate us. ‘We haven’t even sent out our invitations yet but the amount of positive feedback that we’ve received from everybody that is invited makes us so happy. ‘So no I don’t think it’s rude to force people to travel – especially when nobody is forced.’
Liz shared some of her previous revelations about the cost of her wedding venue, particularly causing a stir online. In a controversial TikTok clip, viewed over 1.6 million times, Liz responded to a user’s query about the cost of her Lake Como wedding venue, Villa Balbiano. She explained that the venue can be rented for an entire weekend (Friday through Sunday, two nights, three days) for 100,000 euros (around $109,000) or for one day on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday for 40,000 euros ($44,000). Liz expressed her long-standing desire to get married at this sought-after venue, which she had dreamed of for about five or six years.
Liz clarified that the cost of the venue, covers only the venue itself and nothing else. She defended the expense by highlighting the venue’s incredible features, such as numerous areas for cocktail hours, receptions, and ceremonies. Liz also noted that the venue allows staying overnight, but only if it’s booked for the entire weekend.
Liz expressed concerns about guests staying at Villa Balbiano, considering the rarity and value of many of its items. She concluded that, overall, this venue is the top choice for Lake Como weddings. However, some social media users were shocked by the price, with one suggesting that saving the money for vacations and home renovations might be a better choice. Another commenter found the price unreasonable, especially considering the lack of add-ons. A third person simply labeled it a “waste of money.” Read the full story: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-12453511/Chicago-bride-Lake-Como-Italy-wedding-criticism.html?ito=msngallery
