Bride-to-be shares her VERY unexpected reaction to being proposed to

An Australian bride-to-be has shared an ‘expectation vs reality’ detailing how her proposal actually went and how she portrayed it on social media.

Julia Demarte, who lives on the Gold Coast, Queensland, got engaged to her long-time partner Billy in early September, with her beau secretly filming the moment he got down on one knee to ask her the question.

On Instagram she posted a simple photo of the stunning diamond ring and balloons spelling out ‘marry me?’ behind her. 

It was reminiscent of many couples’ proposal photos, didn’t show their faces and was remarkably simple.

She walks into a bedroom he had set up for the moment holding a water bottle and her keys, glancing at the balloons hovering over a freshly made bed.

Her expression changes to one of surprise before she begins a tirade of expletives to express her delight and shock.

‘F*** off, f*** off, f*** off,’ she repeats, putting a hand to her mouth.

‘Are you f***ing joking? What the f***,’ she continues before bursting into tears.

Meanwhile Billy, a broad smile on his face, is on his knees in front of her, brings her down to his level and plants a kiss on her forehead.

Julia says ‘yes’ to the proposal and places the ring on her finger, continuing to cry as the video progresses.

‘Is that what you wanted?’ Billy asks, referencing the ring. 

‘I’m getting married! We’re engaged!’ Julia squeals.  

Her followers found Julia’s reaction to be authentic and expressed their happiness at seeing the loved up couple together.

‘Probably not the reaction he thought he was going to get,’ one woman wrote.

‘The way he hasn’t even said anything and she’s just sobbing,’ said another.
