A bride-to-be’s simplistic engagement ring has been criticized online for looking like two paperclips stuck together.

Sharing a photograph of her diamond-free band to social media, the unidentified woman said she was so ‘happy to finally be able to call him (her partner) my fiancée.’

The bride’s engagement ring is made of both gold and silver, but doesn’t boast any diamonds or precious stones.

Sharing a photograph of her diamond-free band to social media, the unidentified woman said she was so ‘happy to finally be able to call him (her partner) my fiancée.’

While she was clearly proud of the understated band, social media users were less understanding.

The image was posted on Facebook group That’s It I’m Ring Shaming, where it was inundated with comments mocking the unique ring’s shape.

Instead the two metals meet together in a U shape – but the quirky design didn’t go down well with commentators, who asked if the bride was marrying Microsoft Office assistant ‘Clippy’.

One said: ‘It looks like two paper clips put together. Where did he go shopping? Staples?’

Another asked: ‘Why has she got a paperclip on her finger?’ as a third said: ‘I made this same ring out of paperclips when I was five.’

‘I know people have already said it…but I swear that’s just a bent paperclip,’ another person insisted.

‘And holy c*** I hate that the two sides are two different colours… I refuse to believe that’s real metal.’

Social media users were quick to suggest that the ring looked like two ejector tools used to remove SIM cards from mobile phones, as well as hair ties

‘Aww look he connected some sim pins and called it a ring!’ an individual joked.

Another added: ‘Those look like two of those things that come with the iPhone to help get the SIM card slot out.’

Others were left confused that a bride would want this type of band for an engagement ring
