A woman has been charged with manslaughter following the death of her boyfriend overnight.

Gilbert Caetano died in the early hours of Sunday morning at a home in Brighton-Le-Sands, a beachside suburb in Sydney’s south-east.

On Sunday afternoon police charged a 31-year-old woman with manslaughter and aggravated entry into the home of a person she knew.

Police were called to the home at 1.10am where they allegedly found Mr Caetano, 51, unconscious and attempted to revive him, but were unsuccessful.

Earlier on Sunday, Mr Caetano’s heartbroken daughter Jessica told media outside the home on Sunday that the father-of-three ‘was a kid at heart’ and her family was shattered by his death.

‘The best way to describe him is probably a kid at heart… a fun, loving and caring person,’ Jessica said, with her mother and Mr Caetano’s ex-wife by her side.

‘I don’t think he deserved this at all.’

Neighbours claimed they heard a woman yelling followed by a ‘loud bang’.

‘I don’t really know the full story but she’s been around for a while,’ Ms Caetano said.

Mr Caetano’s father, who is understood to own the home, was celebrating his 80th birthday on Sunday.

The 31-year-old woman was refused bail and will appear at Sutherland Local Court on Monday.

Police were called to the home about 1am on Sunday morning and found a 51-year-old man unconscious. He later died at the scene and a 31-year-old woman has been arrested
