‘So happy to say YES’: Women’s rugby league star announces engagement to her girlfriend after emotion-charged proposal at her 30th birthday party

A women’s rugby league superstar has proposed to her girlfriend while celebrating her 30th birthday.
Ali Brigginshaw, who captains the Brisbane Broncos, popped the question to her partner Kate Daly on Saturday night in front of friends and family.
‘I will never forget the day you asked me to be your girlfriend, 16 months to this day. And I hope you will never forget this moment. I love you with all my heart and will you marry me?’ Brigginshaw said as she got down on one knee.
The crowd erupted into cheers as Ms Daly said ‘Yes’.
‘I am so overwhelmed with the amount of love and support we have received and I am so happy to say YES to you,’ Ms Daly said in an Instagram post.
The pair have been together for 16 months and celebrated their engagement at The Calile Hotel in Brisbane.

‘You are kind, smart, loving, generous, compassionate, funny and so very talented. I love sharing my life with you,’ Ms Daly wrote for her in a birthday post.
‘Your (annoyingly) positive about everything in life and always know how to see the brighter side of things – something I really admire about you.’
Last year, Brigginshaw helped the Broncos take out the first ever premiership in the women’s rugby league competition.
In 2019 the Broncos became back to back winners, defeating St George in the Grand Final.
A superstar for Australia and Queensland over many years, Brigginshaw was named one of the league’s marquee players in the inaugural season of the NRLW.
A photograph of a kiss in the grandstands between Brigginshaw and Ms Daly went viral after the 2018 final win.
