The terrifying moment a fast-footed spider snaps up a delicious snack has been caught on camera.
Lisa Van Kula Donovan, who publishes a blog and Instagram account about insects, captured the footage of the huntsman spider in Brisbane.
In the video, the spider waits patiently for a cricket to step in front of it. Then, at the right moment, it jumps down from the wall to snatch the little critter up.

There’s no chance for the cricket, who within milliseconds, is inside the spider’s mouth.
Lisa, an American-born entomologist living in Hervey Bay, shares her home with five pet spiders – and her children.
She has an entire room dedicated to insects, with a large Golden Orb spider living in the corner. It has a huge web that she throws crickets into at dinnertime.
Also included in her eight-legged pet collection are three holconia immanis huntsman, or giant greys as they commonly known, the species that features in the footage.
