Mother accused of pretending her five-year-old daughter had terminal cancer to rake in GoFundMe donations is slapped with a string of fresh charges

A mother accused of pretending her five-year-old daughter had terminal cancer in a bid to receive GoFundMe donations and gifts has been hit with eight new fraud charges.
The Brisbane woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly raked in $2,190 in crowdfunding handouts after lying about her daughter having a 15cm aggressive brain tumour.
Police allege that 36-year-old set up a Facebook group claiming her daughter only had months to live.
She appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday over fresh charges which allege she was given money, gifts and adventure experiences as a result of her fraudulent assertions.
She previously faced court in September with torture and three fraud offences.

The woman had taken the little girl to hospital several times this year to undergo MRI scans.
She even called ambulances to her home, claiming her daughter was suffering seizures.
But the child was discharged by hospital staff after they found she was healthy.
The new fraud offences allegedly took place between July and September this year at Regents Park, Cannon Hill, Lowood, Kholo and Main Beach, the Courier Mail reported.
Her charges include dishonestly gaining the benefit of an Emergency Services event, including a gift and entertainment for herself.
Police also allege that she dishonestly started a charity event and raked in $670 for herself, as well as an extra $2,500.
Several Gold Coast organisations also helped tick off her daughter’s bucket list which included helicopter, truck and motorbike rides, and $3,666 cash.
In September, Queensland Police alleged the woman’s treatment of her daughter constitutes torture as she was led to believe she suffered from a brain tumour.
Police became involved after the child was frequently absent from school.
Detectives allege the girl was removed from school after the mother was asked to provide medical certificates to explain her absences.
Police said the fraud charges relate to the woman telling people her child had cancer and misleading people to receive financial benefits.
The woman was granted bail on the fresh eight charges.
She will reappear in court on November 27, as well as December for her previous charges.
