A Brisbane shopkeeper has managed to fight off a man wielding a gun with a mop he grabbed from his shop in a bid to ‘protect his family and his cash’.
Adrian Richani, the owner of Jo’s snack bar in Sunnybank 5km south of Brisbane’s CBD, was confronted with an armed intruder on Tuesday night
‘He pulled out a single barrel shot gun from his bag and aimed it towards my dad,’ Adrian’s son Yaz told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Do you want to die? Do you want to die?,’ Yaz alleged the intruder shouted from behind the counter.
‘My dad wasn’t having it, so he just went straight for him.’
In CCTV footage Adrian is seen grabbing a mop and running at the intruder, bashing him over the head with the mop’s pole and using his fists to knock away the firearm.
‘I was blinded. It was the easiest thing I could grab,’ Adrian said as he recounted the incident.
In a surprising turn of events, Adrian was able to fight back as the two men tumbled down the stairs and outside of the store.
Using a mop as his only defence, the shop owner was able to disarm the intruder before he fled the scene empty-handed.

‘He was bleeding all from his face and I looked in the shop and there was just blood everywhere,’ Yaz recalled.

Adrian said he put up a fight ‘to protect myself, to protect my family and to protect my cash’.

The armed attacker covered his face with a bandana, but Adrian told police he caught a glimpse of ginger hair.
Police are looking for a man in his 30s to 40s with balding ginger hair.
‘We are happy to say my father is 100 per cent okay and smiling and only left with some stitches,’ Yaz wrote in a post he shared to Facebook.
