A glamorous executive assistant who set her boyfriend’s clothes on fire after the couple necked three bottles of wine has avoided a stint in jail.

She also threw his wallet off a balcony, a court heard, after they had fallen out when she called a male friend.

Jessica Mary O’Brien, 32, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court on Wednesday to one count of endangering a property by fire.

The court heard at 8.50pm on July 13 in 2018, O’Brien was at a Kangaroo Point unit complex with her then partner.

The relationship was labelled ‘volatile’, with the man 17 years her senior, according to The Courier Mail.

On the night in question, the pair knocked back three bottles of wine together, with O’Brien also taking Prozac tablets, the court heard.

An argument followed when O’Brien rang a male friend.

In a rage, O’Brien threw the man’s wallet off the balcony, to which he responded by tossing her phone over too, the court was told.

When the irate man left the building complex to cool off, a seething O’Brien set fire to some of his clothing before leaving herself.

When she left the unit, O’Brien spoke to two strangers and told them to call the fire brigade, the court heard.

The pair of bystanders later said she had been slurring her words and seemed ‘off her face’.

She was also not wearing shoes that night according to the witnesses.

O’Brien then bizarrely offered one of the bystanders $10,000 to help her flee, before then calling a taxi to take her to her ex-husband’s house in nearby Ashgrove, the court heard.

After arriving at the house and finding her ex not home, she broke in and slept in his bed, the court heard.

She was found by police a few hours later and arrested, where she vomited before getting bail, police recalled.

The court also heard New Zealand born O’Brien had a history of mental health issues.

She is now engaged to another man, and is confident she has her alcohol abuse under control.

Judge Paul Smith sentenced O’Brien to a 12-month intensive correction order.
