A woman on board a famous paddle boat was given a shock when another passenger fell through the ceiling and onto her lap while she was on the toilet.

Ambulance officers and police were called to Eagle Street Wharf to assess the four passengers who were injured out of the 60 on board.

‘There was a patron on the top deck of the vessel and as the vessel came into contact with the wharf, it appears that lady has actually fallen through the deck and she’s actually landed on a lady in the lavatory,’ Police Inspector Adam Muir told the Brisbane Times.

‘That fall’s a couple of metres and there’s also wiring as well, so they’re very lucky that they weren’t electrocuted.’

Inspector Muir said there was extensive damage to the boat, including part of the safety railing and part of the upper deck.

One man told Nine News: ‘I went down and my wife fell on the deck.’

A woman in her 30s fell through the first floor deck of the boat and onto a woman in her 70s who was using the bathroom at the time.

The elderly woman suffered an abrasion from the accident, while the woman in her 30s was left with a lower back injury.

‘We definitely will be looking into this and making sure everyone is OK,’ a Kookaburra River Queens spokewoman named Michelle told Seven News.

‘We’re very sorry this has happened.’

The accident allegedly happened on the skipper’s first day at the helm of the ship, and he – as well as other crew members – will be interviewed.
