‘There was a patron on the top deck of the vessel and as the vessel came into contact with the wharf, it appears that lady has actually fallen through the deck and she’s actually landed on a lady in the lavatory,’ Police Inspector Adam Muir told the Brisbane Times.

‘That fall’s a couple of metres and there’s also wiring as well, so they’re very lucky that they weren’t electrocuted.’

Inspector Muir said there was extensive damage to the boat, including part of the safety railing and part of the upper deck.

One man told Nine News: ‘I went down and my wife fell on the deck.’

A woman in her 30s fell through the first floor deck of the boat and onto a woman in her 70s who was using the bathroom at the time.

The elderly woman suffered an abrasion from the accident, while the woman in her 30s was left with a lower back injury.
