- ITV show Britain’s Favourite Dogs revealed the nation’s 100 most popular breeds
- The Labrador came in top spot, beating the pug, Border Collie and Jack Russell
- But proud dog owners around the country wanted to celebrate their own pets
- They shared images of pooches of all shapes and sizes in adorable Twitter snaps
The Labrador was tonight named Britain’s favourite dog, beating 99 other breeds to take home the title.
The big reveal came in the final moments of a two-and-a-half hour ITV special that saw presenters Ben Fogle and Sarah Cox – and a host of celebrity guest stars – count down the nation’s most popular dogs based on a survey of 10,000 people.
But proud dog owners around the country did not let the crowning of the official winner stop them from celebrating their own beloved four-legged friends.
Dozens of Twitter= users shared images of their pooches of all shapes and sizes, declaring each to be ‘Britain’s favourite dog’.
Some were disappointed that their own breed did not make an appearance on the top 100 countdown, while others were left shocked that their pet’s breed didn’t rank higher. Many simply wanted to share pictures of their darling dogs.
