‘OK I’m crying!’ Britain’s Got Talent fans in tears as the judges break the rules and give an extra JOINT golden buzzer to one-legged dancer after being BOOED by the audience
Britain’s Got Talent fans were left in tears during Saturday’s final audition show as the judges awarded a joint golden buzzer to an act for the first time ever.
Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli were left visibly emotional when Musa Motha, a South African native who had his leg amputated aged 10 due to cancer, stunned with a powerful dance routine.
The former footballer, 27, who now resides in London, told how after giving up his sporting dreams, he had learned to dance with the help of his friends.
However, despite being impressed by the performance and giving Musa a standing ovation, the judges were unable to give him a golden buzzer as they’d already been used in previous auditions, prompting boos from the audience.
This led to the judges then breaking the rules and making the decision to jointly press the buzzer, meaning that for the first time, there are eight acts going through to the semi final via the golden buzzer.
Changing the rules: Britain’s Got Talent fans were left in tears during Saturday’s final audition show as the judges awarded a joint golden buzzer to an act for the first time ever
Usually, six acts are awarded a golden buzzer, with each of the judges getting one, while Ant and Dec share one.
However this year, two of the judges had used their buzzer twice, meaning that in addition to Musa, eight acts will go straight through to the semi-finals.
Musa blew away both the judges and the audience with his moving dance to Naughty Boy and Beyoncé’s track Runnin’, in which he used his crutches to elevate his moves.
He was awarded with a standing ovation, with Amanda looking visibly emotional, while hosts Ant and Dec declared the performance was ‘sensational’.
The audience then began to chant ‘golden buzzer’ at the judges, with the foursome responding that there was ‘none left’ and their hands were tied.
As they sat down to give their critique, Alesha said the routine was one of the most ‘extraordinary auditions’ she’d seen, adding that she had ‘so much admiration’ for the dancer.
While Bruno added that it was ‘exceptional’ before he was then drowned out with boos from the crowd as they demanded Musa get a golden buzzer.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star yelled to the audience that they’d ‘used them all’, adding that show bosses were ‘going to kill me’ if he’d pressed the golden buzzer again following from his buzzer mishap earlier in the series.
The judges were then seen looking in despair at one another amid the audience reaction, with Bruno noting: ‘They’re going made there!’
It was at this point that head judge Simon gave his fellow judges a knowing look and after joining hands and counting down, all four pressed the buzzer at the same time.
