The Brit, who is represented by lawyer Ramesh Tiwary, could reportedly face up to two years in prison as well as a maximum fine of 5,000 SGD (£2,845) if found guilty of voluntarily causing hurt.

If he is convicted of harassing the guard, identified as Regal Security and Fire Management Services supervisor Andrew Lim, local media said that he could be sentenced to six months in jail with another fine of 5,000 SGD (£2,845).

Footage of the incident has been widely circulated on social media with a Facebook video shared by ‘All Singapore Stuff’ viewed 431,000 times.

In the two-minute clip, the victim is seen telling Mills where the exit is located, but a row over security protocol develops and the defendant is seen filming the exchange with his phone.

As a colleague of Lim’s also films the conversation, Mills is seen laughing as he accuses the guard of ‘walking into’ his arm before threatening to ‘report’ him.

Lim tells the defendant that he can show him where the exit doors are located, asking: ‘Can we talk nicely?’

As they walk towards the exit and turn a corner, Lim appears to accidentally walk into the British man.

Seconds later, Mills responds by seemingly tripping the guard before switching his phone to his other hand.

The Brit then appears to punch the guard in the face with his right hand, sending his spectacles flying as he crashes to the floor.

Mills is then heard saying ‘f*** off’ to either Lim or his filming colleague, who reportedly called the police moments afterwards.

The victim was place on medical leave following the incident, according to reports.

Meanwhile, Mills returned to Roxy Square the following day to say sorry to the victim, but colleagues refused the apology and instead called the police who arrived to take a statement, according to local media.
