British holidaymaker dies after plunging from a plane door in Turkey

  • The man had been waiting for a flight home for three days after losing his ticket 
  • Staff were reportedly trying to remove him when he fell from aircraft’s window 
  • He died in hospital without regaining consciousness after plunging to ground 

A British man died after falling from a plane on a runway at Dalaman airport in south-west Turkey.

Staff were reportedly trying to remove the 30-year-old from the aircraft when he fell from an exit.

The man died in hospital a short time after the incident today. It came after the man spent three days waiting for a flight home after losing his ticket.

Hurriyet newspaper reported he argued with cabin crew after boarding a flight at 3am today and was ordered off the aircraft as a risk to flight safety.  

A nearby private hospital found the unconscious passenger had broken ribs as a result of the fall.

The man died at the hospital and police are now investigating.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: ‘We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Turkey and are in touch with the local authorities.’
