Selsey is at the foot of the Manhood Peninsula, surrounded by sea on three sides and a river on the other, giving the feel of an island.

This property sits right by the two mile stretch of West Beach.

The house was built in the 1930s as a chalet and extended in the 1970s.

Owners Terry Fenner-Leitao, a financial consultant, and his wife Elizabeth, an international buyer for a shoe company, bought the house in 2007 and refurbished it, splitting their time between Selsey and London.

More recently they have rented the property out – both to holiday makers and as a photoshoot location.

Actor Kenneth Branagh stayed in the property for several months in 2012 and Kate Winslet did a nautical-themed photoshoot for Violet magazine there.

The house has a large L-shaped living area, three large double bedrooms and a family room that sleeps three.

Mr Fenner-Leitao, 50, said: ‘At the time my wife had given birth to our second child, we also had a two-year-old and we were looking to do things outside London at weekends.

‘We were initially looking in the Cotswolds and saw an advert for this house by chance. We went to look at it and just fell in love with it.

‘It’s so dramatically different and you couldn’t be closer to the water.

‘I’m not sure there are many other places on the south coast where you would get 180-degree uninterrupted sea view.

‘We’ve cultivated the place, it’s got a fantastic feel to it.

‘It’s on a peninsula and you can directly access the beach.

‘The coastguard station is right behind the house, it’s unmanned but they have slipways into the sea right in front of our house.

‘I call it the British Riviera. It’s positioned looking west so we get all the sunsets. Sat on the deck you feel almost as if you are on some paradise island.

‘The views are mesmerising and never the same. When you walk in through the front door you can see the sea straight away through the windows.

‘Once you’re in you are captivated and you won’t want to leave. It has a wonderful tranquillity. All you hear is the sea.

‘It’s an amazing place for entertaining, we’ve used it for lots of family events.’

A spokesman for Unique Home Stays said: ‘You can’t live much closer to the coast than at this stunning beach house in Selsey.

‘It occupies a prime seafront position.

‘As well as being a welcoming family home it has been a successful self-catering holiday let and photoshoot location. With this in mind, buyers in the market for a second home can also look forward to making a lucrative investment.’
