The investigation began after the gay couple arrived on the holiday island and reported being verbally abused during the flight by the three Brits.

They claimed the abuse started during the flight from the UK but then continued on the airport bus to the terminal to collect luggage.

The pair were able to give the Civil Guard a detailed description of the three British holidaymakers and they were eventually found staying in the holiday resort of Playa del Inglés.

Police say the three suspects were passed over to the courts but did not specify if they were charged or have been dealt with.

No details of the airline were given or whether the people involved are men or women.

The three were arrested on February 9th but details have only just been released by the police.
