A body has been found on the edge of the track at a London Tube station causing rush hour chaos today.

Police sealed off Brixton Underground Station at around 3.30am and are investigating how long the body has been there and whether the person was hit by a train or fell to their death.

Detectives are also reviewing CCTV and carrying out a forensic search but they currently believe the incident is not suspicious.

There are severe delays on the Victoria Line and one platform remains closed this morning.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: ‘We were called to Brixton underground station at 3.28am this morning after a body was found close to the tracks at Platform 1.

‘Officers attended the station and conducted a full forensic recovery, as well as reviewing CCTV from the platform. The death is not believed to be suspicious at this time.

‘We are now working to identify the person and inform their next of kin. A file will be prepared for the coroner’.
