Bronx homeowner, 54, charged with murder after chasing would-be intruder down and BEATING him to death with a metal object

  • Troy George, 54, was arrested after police responded to a robbery call at 834 East 223 Street at 11.53pm ET on Thursday night
  • They found an unresponsive 29-year-old at the scene and learned that George had allegedly stuck the man in the head with a metal object
  • The man was rushed to the Montefiore Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival
  • George was charged with murder after being taken into police custody 

A Bronx homeowner has been charged with murder after he brutally beat a man trying to break into his home on Thursday evening. 

Troy George, 54, was arrested after police responded to a robbery call at 832 East 223 Street in Wakefield at 11.53pm ET on Thursday night. 

Responding officers found a 29-year-old male at the scene who was unconscious and unresponsive.

The unidentified man also had signs of trauma to his head, NYPD said in a release.

He was rushed to the Montefiore Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival, police added. 

George is said to have chased the would-be burglar from his home into a nearby alley. 

The man is said to then used a metal object to beat the victim. 

The NYPD said that the incident is still under investigation and added that they were notifying the victim’s family before releasing his identity.
