Australian actress Brooke Satchwell is the latest to join the cast of The Twelve – Foxtel’s newest original series.

The 41-year-old was revealed to be headlining the courtroom drama alongside the likes of Sam Neill, Marta Dusseldorf, Kate Mulvaney and Hazem Shammas at a cast announcement event in Sydney on Thursday.      

Based on the 2019 Belgian series De Twaalf, The Twelve is the story of 12 jurors who, while dealing with their own personal struggles, must decide the case of a woman accused of killing a child.

Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, said in a statement: ‘The Twelve will continue Foxtel’s tradition of bringing gripping Australian drama to the screen – this time from the courtroom.’

The team at Warner Bros. International Television in Australia, together with Easy Tiger Productions, have secured an outstanding ensemble cast along with some of the country’s finest creatives to deliver, what we believe, will be one of the most compelling series next year,’ he continued.

The characters and setting for the series will take place in Australia.

The Twelve will be produced by Ian Collie, Ally Henville and Rob Gibson.  

Michael Brooks and Hamish Lewis from Warner Bros. and Liz Watts from Spirit Pictures will be executive producers. 

Executive Producers for the Foxtel Group are Brian Walsh and Penny Win.

Satchwell previously starred in Mr Inbetween, which is another Foxtel original crime drama series.   

The Seachange star played Ally, the girlfriend of hitman Ray Shoesmith, who was portrayed by the show’s creator Scott Ryan. 

Mr Inbetween’s third and final season wrapped earlier this year. 

Production for The Twelve will begin next week. The series is set for release in 2022.
