Brooklyn lot covered in trash and dozens of rats

A disturbing video shows dozens of rats running around a garbage-filled lot next to a deli in Brooklyn. 

A witness to the rat party Liam Quigley posted a video of the rodents to Twitter with the caption ‘my local deli has a minor rat problem’. 

That’s definitely an understatement.

The video shows an uncountable number of rats feasting on garbage in Fort Greene.

‘I pass by there every day and I’ve never seen any rats. But I’m going to get an exterminator and do what I need to do to take care of the problem,’ the lot’s owner Marino Mazzei told Gothamist,

An employee at the nearby deli said that the rats were partying in trash from a neighboring restaurant. 

‘We share a backyard with the restaurant next door and sometimes when there’s garbage there temporarily, the rats will come from the neighboring lot,’ he said. 

‘We take the garbage out right away though so it’s not usually a problem, and they’re everywhere in Fort Greene, not just here,’ he said.

Quiqley later posted a second video of himself throwing an object down at the rats, sending them running in all directions.
