Brooklyn Nets are not expecting to trade star forward Kevin Durant before Thursday’s Trade Deadline

The Brooklyn Nets have no intentions in planning for life without star forward Kevin Durant this season, two days before Thursday’s Trade deadline, and two days after Kyrie Irving’s trade to the Dallas Mavericks. 

ESPN Senior NBA insider Adrian ‘Woj’ Wojnarowski delivered the update via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon. 

‘In aftermath of Kyrie Irving trade, the Brooklyn Nets and Kevin Durant are having ongoing conversations on the direction of the franchise,’ the tweet read.

‘But organization has thus far told inquiring teams that they’re not planning to trade him before Thursday’s deadline, sources tell ESPN.’ 

Wojnarowski then revealed that a number of suitors have been put on alert regarding the two-time NBA champion’s availability.

‘Durant had interest in a deal to the Suns over the summer, but so far the Nets haven’t shown a wilingness to move him to Phoenix or anywhere else, sources tell ESPN. There have been a number of teams reaching out to Brooklyn on Durant.’

In 39 games played this season, ‘KD”s been averaging 29.7 points and 5.3 assists on 55.9 percent overall Field Goal shooting in 36 minutes per game. 

The Nets had a stretch of 16 wins in 17 games from late November to early January, but Irving’s recent trade request — and the fulfillment of it — now leave Brooklyn a very uncertain threat in the East. The team is the East’s fifth seed with a 32-21 record.

Cleveland jumped ahead of Brooklyn on Monday night and into fourth place in the conference. 

Oddly enough, Phoenix visit the Big Apple on Tuesday night to take on the Nets without Durant, who’s still recovering from a sprained right MCL he suffered on January 8. 

They were ready to include Chris Paul in a trade for Durant, DailyMail.com can reveal.

In June, ESPN first reported Durant’s trade request, citing Phoenix and Miami as two of his preferred destinations. The bombshell came just hours before the NBA’s free-agent period for the summer was set to begin.

The news also came exactly three years to the day after Durant announced that he was joining Brooklyn in a social-media post — a move that came June 30, 2019.

He, James Harden, and Irving had all pushed for moves to Brooklyn in a bid to bring a championship to New York City’s most populous borough.

Other than winning the Larry O’Brien trophy twice with the Golden State Warriors, Durant is a 12-time All-Star, four-time scoring champion and three-time Olympic gold medalist. 

He has three-and-a-half years and nearly $200million remaining on his contract, which means that it may take a haul of players, draft picks or possibly both for a team to acquire him. 

Durant has played 14 seasons, not including one year when he sat out while recovering from a torn Achilles. 

He has averaged 27.2 points in his career — over that span, only LeBron James, at 27.3 points per game, has averaged more.
