It’s all change in the royal household as Buckingham Palace are advertising a role for a Communications Officer, and Highgrove House are hiring a Social Media Executive.

The role at Buckingham Palace, is described as ‘supporting the official duties of a number of different members of the Royal Family’.

Although it does not specify specific royal family members, it it thought to be primarily referring to the Queen, as attending the annual Garden Part is among the responsibilities listed.

However as there is also mention of travel abroad, the role could also cover duties for Harry and Meghan, who have recently separated from the Kensington Palace household and joined Buckingham Palace as their place of work.

And proving the monarchy is moving with the times, the vacancy at Highgrove House is searching for a savvy social media aficionado to support the work done by Prince Charles and Camilla.

The Buckingham Palace advert states: ‘You’ll handle queries from the press, prepare editorial website content, as well as manage the media for Royal engagements and official events in the UK and overseas. 

‘You’ll be supporting the official duties of a number of different members of the Royal Family. The reaction to our work therefore is always high-profile, and reputation and impact will be at the forefront of all that you do.

Describing the desired candidate, the advert continues: ‘Your excellent interpersonal skills will also be important, enabling you to develop relationships with a wide range of people, both internal and external.

Meanwhile the role supporting Prince Charles will be based at the picturesque Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire, the family residence of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The advert, posted on the Highgrove Royal Gardens website this week, states: ‘We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media and Content Executive to join our team with overall responsibility for developing and implementing the digital content strategy across online channels. 

‘You’ll also generate and write engaging content for the website, including blogs and news stories, as well as email campaigns and seasonal promotions.’

It adds: ‘If you have lots of energy, and love being part of a very busy and focused team, then we would like to hear from you. 

‘In return you can look forward to a friendly and lovely working environment (just down the road from the beautiful Highgrove Estate), excellent remuneration and other benefits.’
