Buckingham Palace confirm Queen not dead after Gibbo Whatsapp

Buckingham Palace was forced to confirm the Queen is still alive after vile trolls spread rumours she was dead based on a friends’ Whatsapp group chat.

#Queendead began trending on Twitter after a screenshot of a conversation between a group of friends, including ‘Burnsy, Cheeks, Gibbo, Josh and Morty’, was shared online last night.

It falsely claimed news of Her Majesty’s death would be announced this morning and instructed people to prepare to swim the English Channel in her memory.

The post read: ‘Queens passed away this morning, heart attack, being announced 9.30am tomorrow, channel dash 0800 tomorrow in full number 1s’

Thousands of people slated the ‘disrespectful’ rumours while others mocked them for not knowing about ‘Operation London Bridge’, which is in place for when the Queen dies and will trigger nine days of national mourning.

A source rubbished the rumours and told MailOnline it is ‘business as usual’ for the royal family as she was photographed being driven from Windsor to Buckingham Palace.

The Queen, 93, is hosting a dinner for US President Donald Trump and other world leaders in London for a NATO summit tomorrow.

She was seen at an event in London and also spotted out horse riding with Prince Andrew in the grounds of Windsor Castle on November 22.

On Friday she put out a statement on the London Bridge attacks, which read: ‘Prince Philip and I have been saddened to hear of the terror attacks at London Bridge.

‘We send our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to all those who have lost loved ones and who have been affected by yesterday’s terrible violence.

‘I express my enduring thanks to the police and emergency services, as well as the brave individuals who put their own lives at risk to selflessly help and protect others.’

Royal expert and editor of Royal Central Charlie Proctor also bemoaned the rumours.

He tweeted: ‘I see we have reached that time of year where I have to dispel rumours of HM’s passing. The Queen is not dead.

‘She is alive & well and is very much looking forward to hosting President Trump and other world leaders at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday for the NATO reception.’

Many Twitter users mocked the false claims and asked if they would get a day off work

The full post from one of the friends ‘Gibbo’ read: ‘Queens passed away this morning, heart attack, being announced 9.30am tomorrow, channel dash 0800 tomorrow in full number 1s, in your black kit bag you will need: 1 set of 3s; 1 set of 4; Underwear and socks for two weeks; Washing kit; Body washing kit; Cities fornstand down.’

A screenshot of the message was posted on Twitter with a profile picture of a penis.

The user who shared it wrote: ‘Imagine if this was true and all the immaculately laid plans and procedure for dealing the queen’s death was ruined by ‘gibbo’ in a whatsapp group chat with a display picture of an erect penis.’

One person posted: ‘Can’t wait to see who’ll play Gibbo in season 8 of The Crown!’, while another said: ‘Probably the most British sequence of events to ever happen.’

In response one person joked: ‘Soooooo am I off work tomorrow?’

Another person quipped: ‘After the narwhal thing on Friday I’m pretty sure this is exactly how we find out the queen is dead.’

But most were outraged at the ‘disrespect’ of the post and demanded the friends educate themselves on the protocol for when the Queen dies.

The monarch is reportedly due to step down from day-to-day running of the royal family at the age of 95 in 18 months.

Prince Charles, 71, would take on a Prince Regent-style role, taking over from his mother in her old age.

The trolls’ false claims come on the day the royal family is bracing itself for Virginia Roberts Guiffre’s tell-all interview with Panorama to air.

The 36-year-old claims she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew three times – once when she was 17.

The Duke of York, 59, denies the claims and told BBC Newsnight he has no memory of ever meeting her despite a picture showing them together.

He says the image may have been doctored.
