Bulldogs star Jayden Okunbor is reportedly set to be sacked for sending flirty messages to a teenager he met at a school visit and taking her back to the team hotel.

But teammate Corey Harawira-Naera, who invited another schoolgirl, 17, to their room, is expected to keep his position at the club.

Okunbor met one of the girls during a promotional visit to her school, Newman Senior Technical College, in Port Macquarie, on the New South Wales mid-north coast, in February.

Harawira-Naera met a girl, who attends the same school, at her after school job, before later connecting on social media.

When news broke of the encounters, the two players were stood down from their season opener against the Eels on Thursday.

But Bulldogs officials are now considering sacking Okunbor for good because he met the girl on school grounds, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill said this wasn’t ‘reflective of this football club and the game’s code of conduct’.

Messages between Okunbor and one of the girls were leaked on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old asked one of the girls ‘what are we doing tonight?’ in an Instagram message after meeting her earlier that day.

The 17-year-old asked him if he was ‘having a good stalk’, after earlier messages.

‘Yeah had to have a good look, what are we doing tonight?’ the Canterbury-Bankstown winger replied.

The girl cheekily replied ‘you’ followed by a winking face, to which Okunbor responded ‘okay, okay’ and asked if she was at the school that day.

She sent him a photo of her posing with him with the caption ‘sure was’, and Okunbor replied ‘okay’ with three loved-up emojis.

The girl bragged about going to the player’s hotel on her since-deleted Instagram account.

‘*Gets invited to go back to bulldogs hotel room* fine if i must,’ she wrote.

One of her friends commented: ‘Lucky b***h.’

The schoolgirls were not under age and there is no suggestion Harawira-Naera or Okunbor did anything illegal.

The 17-year-olds were willing participants and over the age of consent, but NRL players are banned from bringing women to their hotel rooms.

Police are not looking into the incident and don’t believe a crime was committed. Neither the girls nor their parents have made a complaint.

The girls’ parents are aware of the incident, which is understood to have been first revealed when they discussed it with friends in a messaging app group chat.

But an angry NRL boss Todd Greenberg said the incident was ‘completely unacceptable’ and would ‘not be tolerated’.

‘Part of being a first grade player is being a role model,’ Greenberg said on Wednesday night.

‘Respect for women is a fundamental aspect of our training courses from rookies to elite players.

‘That’s why we took immediate action in provisionally suspending both players allegedly involved in the matters under investigation.

‘Rest assured, if these breaches are sustained the players will face significant sanctions which will both meet community expectation, and send a message to every single player in our game.’

Bulldogs chief executive Andrew Hill said the players were stood down for ‘bringing young females of a consensual age back to the team hotel’.

‘The club wishes to reiterate that while neither player is the subject of a current police investigation, these are very concerning matters that the club has treated very seriously,’ he told a press conference on Wednesday.

‘The conduct not only breaches the club’s code of conduct, it is not reflective of the standards and values we have tried to instil in our players.’

Former NSW captain and coach Laurie Daley also weighed in on the scandal while appearing on the Big Sports Breakfast radio program.

‘You go to a school to represent the game and represent your club. It’s an extremely bad look. You’re well aware of your responsibilities as a football player,’ he said.

Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill’s statement on the incidents

‘We can further confirm the breaches do relate to players bringing young females of a consensual age back to the team hotel.

The clubs want to reiterate that while neither player is the subject of a police investigation, these are very concerning matters that we are treating very seriously.

We have been conscious through our review of these allegations over the past few days to do everything we could to protect the identity and welfare of the girls involved, that is why we have been careful with the information we have disclosed. To the extent possible we will continue to do that.

After the past few months where our players received some deserved recognition for their charitable and community work, this is obviously a very disappointing situation.

The conduct and behaviour not only breaches our club’s code of conduct, it is not reflective of the standards and values we have tried very hard to instil in our players.’
