A businessman has been jailed after police uncovered over 200 child porn videos on his computers.

Andrew Karl Matthies, 45, pleaded guilty in Maroochydore District Court, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, to possessing and accessing child pornography along with large amounts of drugs, the Sunshine Coast Daily reports.

Matthies, who runs a hydroponics firm, was caught downloading explicit child exploitation videos with titles such as ‘Pedo mum abuse of little girl 3 yo’ and ‘Toddler girls plus man 3yo beauty this rocks’.

When officers raided his Kunda Park business, they found Matthies’ laptop which contained 16 child porn videos, allowing them to track another computer located in his work shed.

Two computers were located by police, one of which had 187 videos, some of which Matthies had said were accidentally downloaded, and another with 30.

The police investigation uncovered the sickening videos on March 6, 2017.

Throughout the investigation, officers uncovered 44kg of growing marijuana plants and 4kg in another location, with 50g of dried.

Defence barrister Scott Lynch said Matthies struggled with mental health issues and had been hospitalised due to a psychotic episode involving drugs.

A letter to the court written by Matthies’ doctor defended his acts and said watching online porn videos was a way to ‘exercise his curiosity’ and had nothing to do with his mental health problems.

‘People like you who search these videos are part of the reason people abuse children,’ Judge Glen Cash told Matthies.

Matthies was sentenced to jail for two and a half years and his term will be suspended after ten months.
