A hairdresser who was handed the wrong order at a Sydney McDonald’s drive-thru last week says police threatened to fine him $300 after tracking him down to his home late at night.

Santo La Rocca, 44, said he stopped by the Bass Hill McDonald’s on Thursday around 8.30pm to pick up dinner for his kids on the way home, but didn’t realise until he arrived that he’d was given another order worth $17 more.

‘My daughter was a bit annoyed because she didn’t get her nuggets but I said just suck it up and we ate it,’ Mr La Rocca told the Daily Telegraph.

‘I couldn’t be bothered to take it back because how many times do they stuff up your order when you go through the drive through?’

The father-of-two, who owns Tender Loving Cuts hair salon in Ashfield, said he shrugged off the accident but was shocked when he and his children were awoken to police officers knocking on the front door at 10.30pm.

Mr La Rocca said the officers accused him of stealing the McDonald’s order, which he thought was a joke.

‘Shouldn’t they be fighting crime, not fighting the Hamburglar?’ he told the Daily Telegraph.

NSW police officers told Daily Mail Australia officers ‘attended a fast food restaurant about 9pm on Thursday the 22nd of March following reports a man had earlier driven into the drive-thru and began filming staff without permission and allegedly failed to pay for food.’

‘About 10.30pm officers attended a home in Georgia’s Hall and spoke with a 44-year-old man about both incidents, he was cautioned.’

Police said they would not be taking any formal action because of ‘conflicting versions provided’.

Mr La Rocca told the publication officers threatened him with a $300 fine before letting him off with a warning.

Daily Mail Australia contacted McDonald’s for comment.
