Businesswoman, 28, reveals how a rummage through her pantry led her to become a millionaire

When Jordyn Evans had a rummage through her pantry a year ago and read some of the labels on her seasoning products, she had no idea she would be a millionaire just one year later.

But when the 28-year-old from Melbourne saw the levels of sugar, salt, emulisifiers, preservatives, numbers and generally bad ingredients in many of the supermarket seasonings, she was shocked and prompted to act.

Twelve months later, Mingle Seasoning has a revenue of over $1 million this year and it’s stocked in Coles supermarkets across Australia.

‘[When] I started reading the ingredients on the labels of the seasonings that I had in my pantry, I no longer felt confident consuming these products and that prompted an idea,’ the former marketing manager Jordyn told News Corp.

Jordyn decided she would create her own ‘all natural’ seasoning range ‘that does tasty the right way, without any nasties’, naming the business Mingle Seasoning.

Over the next few months, the 28-year-old said she started by making some all-purpose seasonings – including garlic and herb and Moroccan.

She later added a few of her own bespoke options – including coconut and cacao blend, smoky seasoning and spicy Mexican.

‘There was a lot of trial and error and it really looked like a scene from Breaking Bad, with our masks on, blending up spices in my kitchen, day in day out, until we got the family’s and friends’ tick of approval,’ Jordyn told the publication.

Mingle Seasoning now boasts a host of different products – whether you’re after ‘Curry in a Hurry’ seasoning or the ‘Butter Chicken’ and ‘Spag Bol’ options.

‘After extensive research and experimenting in the kitchen, Mingle Seasoning was born,’ Jordyn wrote on her website.

‘The product that has not just taught me to cook with ease, but create.’
