Busy mum-of-two Steph Pase shares the ultimate lockdown home reset you need to try today

An organised mum-of-two has shared her ultimate lockdown ‘home reset’ regime, and revealed how it has streamlined her family’s space and made her feel refreshed.

Steph Pase, 31, from Sydney, said Sunday is the perfect opportunity for a ‘home reset’ or deep clean and organise, as it means you go into the working week with a plan and less to do while you are working full time.

‘I like to try and plan as much as I can on a Sunday, especially when you’re running a business and you have kids,’ Steph said in a recent YouTube clip.

‘I plan everything from my cleaning schedule to our meal plan and budget.’

So what does a lockdown home reset look like?

What does Steph’s lockdown reset include?

* Washing all family clothes, towels and bedding.

* Tidying kids’ rooms and putting away clothes and toys.

* Meal planning for the week.

* Grocery shopping.

* Organising and meal prepping foods.

* Vacuuming.

* Occasional tasks like cleaning the laundry filter.

* Cleaning out the fridge.

* Home workout.

* Catching up on incomplete tasks.

First of all, Steph said you will need to get the house in order.

She’ll begin the day by doing a bit of journalling and putting any clothes, towels and linen that need to be washed in the washing machine.

Next, she’ll put any stray kids’ clothes or toys away, tidy their rooms and have breakfast.

‘I like to base the week’s shopping list off our meal plan for the week,’ Steph said.

‘So I write down everything on our food planner that we intend to eat for meals, then I add all the foods to a shopping list, so I know exactly what to buy and what our budget is.’

This particular week in question, Steph and her family are set to enjoy lamb cutlets, tacos and chicken and bacon spaghetti, among other dishes.

One handy trick that the mum swears by is writing down what meat she has to remove from the freezer the day before on her whiteboard, so her family are never caught without a meal ready to be made.

‘I like to meal prep as much as possible because it cuts down time through the week,’ Steph said.

She also unpacks all of her fruit and veg into see-through glass containers, as well as all of her cleaning supplies into glass jars.

The mum-of-two said this means it’s easy to see when something is running out.

The mum-of-two also has a handy cleaning regime when she’s doing a home reset, in which she washes her family’s clothes, towels and all of the bedding on a Sunday.

She also might choose one ‘occasional task’ to carry out if she has time.

Her occasional tasks include cleaning out the laundry filter, dusting and wiping the fans and the lights, washing the windows, deep cleaning the oven or fridge, flipping the mattress, wiping the walls and dusting the skirting boards.

‘I like to delegate each day of the week to a certain area or task, so I can do a bit each day instead of doing one big clean. Then I use the weekends to refresh and restock the home!’ Steph wrote previously on her blog.

‘Having a cleaning schedule I stick to each day means that I don’t have to think about what needs to be done.

‘This also means I can keep on top of the housework as best as I can!’

On busy days, Steph plans ahead and uses her Kmart slow cooker to prepare dinner ahead of time.

One of her go-to dishes is slow-cooked pulled pork.

Steph said while her routine can sometimes take hours, it is worthwhile as it makes her feel ‘in control’ of her busy schedule as a mum, and she saves time later in the week which is spent with her family.

How to make Steph Pase’s slow-cooked pulled pork

INGREDIENTS

Pork Shoulder

1 Cup Beef Stock (alternatively Vegetable or Chicken work fine too)

1/4 Cup Olive Oil

1 jar Passata Sauce

2 Cloves of crushed Garlic (or Garlic Powder)

2-3 teaspoons Mixed Herbs

2 teaspoon Parsley (fresh or packet)

1/4 Chopped Onion (optional)

METHOD

1. Firstly cut off the layer of fat from the pork (if you wish to make crackling keep it and make prior to serving, or discard).

2. Place pork shoulder in the slow cooker.

3. In a bowl mix together; Stock, Olive Oil, Passata Sauce, garlic, mixed herbs, parsley and onion (literally everything!).

4. Pour over the Pork shoulder.

5. Put slow cooker on LOW for 7-9 hours (depending on the size of the pork).

6. Once finished use two forks to pull apart (if you wish to make it a bit more crisp, pop on a tray in the oven for 10 minutes on 180C).

7. Then make into tacos, burgers, wraps or anything you wish!
