He’s the British actor who’s starred in every Star Wars film as lovable droid C-3PO. But Anthony Daniels revealed last week that he is ‘terrified’ of technology.

Asked if he welcomed advances since his 1977 debut in the first of the sci-fi series, Daniels, 73, pictured right with his C-3PO costume, said: ‘Are you crazy? Look, things like Alexa and Siri terrify me.’

His aversion even extends to satnavs, especially if they use his robot character’s voice.

‘I was once a satnav in my car. ‘At the next roundabout, turn left. Take the fifth exit.’

Shut up! I actually had to turn myself off,’ he said.

But Daniels, speaking ahead of this Friday’s release of The Rise Of Skywalker, the last in the series, said he would like to have his own droid as a best friend because the bumbling C-3PO ‘will do anything’ for those close to him, whether it is R2-D2, Luke, Rey or Finn.’
