Cabramatta road rage attack caught on camera as driver is left with glass in their eye

Road rage brawl erupts over a parking spot in Sydney’s west – as driver, 22, is left with a shard of glass stuck in his eye after being punched in the face

An argument over a parking space erupted into violence along a busy shopping strip and left a driver with a shard of glass lodged in his eye.

The driver, 22, was allegedly punched in the face in the wild road rage attack on John Street in Cabramatta, Sydney’s west, on Sunday afternoon.

The force of the alleged blow shattered the sunglasses on his face and left him with shrapnel embedded in his eye.

He was then hauled halfway out the window of the moving car by a furious motorist before pulling himself back into the car. 

The scuffle didn’t end there as the driver retaliated and reversed his car into the van behind him before speeding off.

Police will allege the violence began when a 51-year-old driver left his white Toyota Hiace van and smashed the windscreen of the man’s Hyundai sedan with his fist. 

The 43-year-old passenger of the van then allegedly got involved in the dispute, approaching the car and slamming his hand against the window while yelling ‘Hey!’

The man and his friend walk around the front of the car to the driver’s side before continuing on their rant.

The 22-year-old driver eventually lowers his window and rolls the car forward along the street.

As he goes to drive away the 43-year-old man, dressed in a grey jacket, runs up to the side of the car and allegedly punches the driver through the open window.

He grabs the driver by his jacket and attempts to pull him out of the car.

Horrified onlookers call for the man to stop before he eventually walks away.

Though the injured driver slowly backs his car back down the street and reverses it into the van before he drives away.

The driver was eventually taken to Sydney Eye Hospital where he is waiting to undergo eye surgery.

A 43-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday.

A 51-year-old was charged with malicious damage and common assault and bailed to appear at court on August 7.
