Chocolate lovers are furious after Cadbury dropped Fudge bars from its Christmas selection boxes.

The popular chocolate-coated fudge bars have been replaced by a Dairy Milk Oreo bar, but some fans are not happy with the swap.

Customers took to social media to declare that ‘Christmas is ruined’ and to ask: ‘Have you lost your mind, Cadbury?’

The sweet treat has been removed from the £2.99 medium selection box for this year.

However Fudge bars are still available in the £1.09 small box and in the £2.99 Freddo selection packs.

Cadbury, which is owned by Mondelez International, said it wanted ‘to improve the mix and offer more of a variety for our fans’.

But Fudge fans aren’t happy with the decision.

Nigel Quinlan accused the firm of waging a ‘war on Christmas’ on the microblogging site, while Sinead Gleeson called for ‘a revolution against this chocolate tyranny’.

Not all oppose the move, however.

One chocolate lover called Fudge bars an ‘abomination’ and that he was glad they had been removed.

The Dairy Milk bar with Oreo biscuit pieces joins Dairy Milk, Crunchie, Dairy Milk Buttons, Double Decker and Wispa in the company’s ‘best-selling selection box in the UK’.

A Cadbury spokesman said in a statement: ‘This year we have updated the range available within our selection boxes to improve the mix and offer more of a variety for our fans.

‘Cadbury Fudge is still available in our small selection box and Freddo selection box but has been removed from the medium selection box to ensure we’re offering choice between the ranges.’
