It will beat Audi’s e-tron and Jaguar’s I-Pace in available mileage, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Lyriq’s launch will follow the launch of the Chevrolet Bolt crossover-utility vehicle and the GMC Hummer pickup thats planned for next year.

All were unveiled to investors during Chief Executive Mary Barra’s EV pitch. She plans to have 20 electric vehicles to market globally by 2023.

‘Led by Lyriq, Cadillac will redefine American luxury over the next decade with a new portfolio of transformative EVs,’ Steve Carlisle, president of GM North America, said in a statement.

The Lyriq will be offered in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, as well as the hands-free Super Cruise driver-assistance system.

The feature will be usable on more than 200,000 miles of highway and will offer automatic lane-changing capability. The model will also be able to park itself.

In addition, it will feature a 33-inch panel that stretches across the cockpit and will have twice the resolution of a 4K television. The same will also be offered in Cadillac’s new Escalade SUV.

Volkswagen’s Audi has struggled getting sales out of their electric SUVs, getting less than 17,000 e-trons in the first half of 2020. The poor sales made up a little more than two per cent of the worldwide total.

‘Lyriq is probably the first real product that could be a legitimate volume entry,’ said Dan Levy, a Credit Suisse analyst. ‘GM is very serious about this.’

How does the Cadillac Lyriq compare to Tesla Model X

When the Cadillac Lyriq releases in late 2022, it will boast a similar Tesla Model X feature of being able to go more than 300 miles before a charge. The models will differ in other ways, however.
