A 5.0 magnitude earthquake has been reported off the coast of California, 85 miles west of Los Angeles.
It struck the region at 10.30am on Thursday and was most felt by the Channel Islands.
Residents reported feeling it on the ground but it is not yet known what the extent of the damage was.
Among those who tweeted about it from mainland was Chrissy Teigen who said: ‘Earthquake?’ Others told how it ‘kept rolling’ but few were alarmed by the disruption.
