Cameron Munster kicks player in the head during Melbourne Storm Sydney Roosters NRL grand final

Melbourne Storm’s Cameron Munster has been blasted after kicking a defenceless player in the head in the dying minutes of Sunday’s NRL grand final.

The explosive five-eighth was sent to the sin bin for the outrageous brain snap.

With just two minutes left of the game, Munster kicked Sydney Roosters’ youngster Joseph Manu in the head as he was lying on the ground after a tackle.

He was then placed on report and sent to the sin bin for the second time by match referee Gerard Sutton.

The move put him in the record books for all the wrong reasons – becoming the second player to ever be sinbinned twice in an NRL grand final.

Earlier in the match, Munster was sent to the bin for holding down in a tackle after the Roosters made a blistering break down the centre of the field.

He also held onto the ball in a crucial moment in the match, eventually coughing up the ball when his team had a three-on-one advantage with time to fight back.

Channel Nine commentator Phil Gould said the kick was likely the result of a build-up of frustration within the side.

‘It wasn’t a big kick, but it was a kick nonetheless,’ Gould said.

‘He’s been running into tackles and trying to belt blokes. The game’s over and he lets the frustration (out).’

Footy fans took to Twitter to express their frustration with Munster over the dirty kick.

Many fans found the kick ‘pathetic’, and agreed the Australian representative should be stripped of his Kangaroos jersey.

‘That could cost Munster a Kangaroos jersey,’ one fan noted.

‘Cameron Munster MATE…did you just kick a Rooster in the back of his head while he was lying on the ground? Like, the Storm and their fans say they aren’t dirty but Jesus…’ another user tweeted.

Another user commented on Munster’s performance overall: ‘Worst game of Cameron Munster’s career: confirmed! What a grub’.

Some even made note of the light-hearted song that was played while Munster was being sent off: ‘The dictionary definition of savage is the stadium PA playing “Hit the Road Jack” to Cam Munster’s sin bin. Hilarious stuff’.
