Camilla Franks celebrates being five years free from breast cancer after her stage-three diagnosis

In 2018 Camilla Franks was diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer just a few months after giving birth to her first child Luna.

Now, the Australian fashion designer is celebrating as she recently had her five-year cancer all-clear.

Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with The Saturday Telegraph, the businesswoman, 47, candidly spoke about her gruelling diagnosis, and how after her difficulties, she can now weather any storm.

‘Connection, honesty and sharing my story with others has been one of my greatest sources of strength on this journey, and true connection only comes from vulnerability,’ she said.

‘Since my recovery from breast cancer, I have learnt to surrender myself to the universe and whatever life throws at me, because I now know that I can weather the storm.’

After a gruelling six months of chemotherapy, a preventive double mastectomy, and the removal of her fallopian tubes, the mother-of-one said that she is ‘strong’ and a ‘fighter’.

Her goal was always to receive a five-year all-clear, so she plans on celebrating big with her family later this year.

Despite her hardships, Camilla said having cancer has taught her a lot about herself and her place in this world, and that she is the ‘happiest’ she’s ever been.

'Sometimes you have to let go of who you were so that you become the person you need to be. You can't hang on to trivial things, especially during those tough times. Acceptance has been one of my greatest tools on this journey,' she said. Camilla is pictured as a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice in 2021

The Celebrity Apprentice contestant shares five-year-old daughter Luna with her fiancé JP Jones.

Camilla and her family split their time between JP’s home country Wales and Australia, as his son Blue lives in the UK.

The couple first met in London over 25 years ago, but reunited and began a relationship in 2016.

Luna is what got Camilla through her battle with breast cancer, and she is also her main driving force towards wanting to be a better person, she said.
