Mr Orefors’ mother was ‘screaming with delight’ when she saw her son and travelled with him in an ambulance to hospital for a check up.
‘His mum was so excited,’ said Sergeant Marland of Victoria Police. ‘It’s the best result.’
What Mr Orefors did or how he survived for four days remains a mystery because he is too weak to talk about what happened.
He separated from friends to find a better clearing in which to pitch their tent on Friday evening.
Their last contact with him was a 7.30pm phonecall while he was believed to be around 700m away.
