Canadian brand called Fecal Matter launches skin boots

A Canadian fashion brand has been dividing the internet with its bizarre new boots, which are made to look like human skin.

Fecal Matter is selling boots that come with individual toes, devil horns and heels in the shape of bones, all in a flesh tone that transforms the wearer’s legs into something overworldly.

The shoes, which start at $10,000 (£5,931) a pair, have been dividing the internet, with many commenters on the brand’s Instagram branding them ‘disturbing’ and ‘creepy’.

However, other internet users have praised Fecal Matter’s unique sense of style, with many comparing the boots to ‘works of art’.

The boots started off as creations of Photoshop but have now been turned into a reality by designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran.

They are tailor-made from silicon and meant to match every detail on the wearer’s legs, such as their own skin tone or if they have any blemishes or moles.

The shoes have been designed in line with the brand’s idea of what people will look like as a result of body modification, social media influences and the advancement of technology.

Bhaskaran told Vogue: ‘We can get this alien look and present it and tweak it with Photoshop and make it look really realistic.

‘But at the same time, there is always this dysphoria in us. There is this urge inside of us to take what we do on the Internet and try to create that via real life. That is what we are doing with the shoes.’

The brand has been sharing pictures of Dalton in the boots, which has caused a stir on Instagram.

One user commented: ‘If I saw that walking down my street I’d move to Mars.’
