A lucky Australian man has became a multi-millionaire overnight after winning a $50million Powerball.

The man, who lives in Canberra and is in his 30s, won the entire jackpot on Thursday.

The lottery winner said he was ‘dumbfounded’ by the result and hasn’t been able to stop smiling.

‘I haven’t slept a wink,’ the man told an official who called him on Friday morning to see if he was aware of his incredible win.

When asked how he wants to spend his new-found fortune, the man said he first needed to let the enormity of everything sink in.

A Powerball spokesman said the winner from the national capital ‘did not make it into work today’.

‘I don’t know if our winner turned up to work today. The winner said he couldn’t stop smiling so if you see someone wandering the streets of Canberra grinning from ear to ear, that could be our winner,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

The Canberra man was the only division one winning entry in Thursday night’s Powerball draw.

The number nine has been drawn four times since April 19.

It also featured as the Powerball on May 17.

The numbers 14, 19, 24, 25 and 32 have been drawn three times in the same period.

The hot Powerball numbers since April 19 have included 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 17.

His $50 million win is the second largest win by a single Australian entry so far this year.

He said he bought his ticket online on OzLotteries.com.

The winning numbers in the draw were 34, 30, 14, 32, 22, 24 and 23.

The all-important Powerball number was nine.

Interestingly, the number nine has been drawn four times since April 19 and once as the main Powerball since the format changed to seven balls and one Powerball.

Seven weeks ago, this lucky number helped someone win an $8million jackpot prize. A second person took home $187,000.

The number nine was also drawn on April 26, which saw someone win $124,507.

The standing record for the largest Powerball win claimed by a single ticket was in 2016.

The winner at the time, from Hervey Bay in Queensland, won a staggering $70 million.
