They may have had lofty ambitions to ring in the new year with a bang, but the warm comforts of bed proved too inviting for sporting power couple Candice and David Warner.
The cricket star and his former Ironwoman wife started strong, posting family snaps to Instagram of themselves looking glammed up and ready to party.
But as 2018 edged closer, the pair resolved to watching the midnight fireworks while cosying up together in bed, sharing the special moment on social media.

In a video posted to David’s account, the couple can be heard counting down the last few seconds of 2017, before exclaiming: ‘Happy new year! woo!’
David and Candice were all smiles in the video and were shown sporting casual attire for the occasion.
The camera panned to feature the Sydney Harbour fireworks, showcasing them in all their glory.

It was a far cry from earlier in the night, when Candice and David were dressed to the nines in a glamorous shot which also contained daughters Ivy Mae, three, and India Rae, one.
‘Happy New Year from the Warner’s. May 2018 bring love and happiness to all,’ Candice wrote alongside the image.
Another snap contained Candice and her daughter clinking cups, which the doting mum captioned: ‘Cheers to my little lady Indi Rae’.

Meanwhile, the closing of the year appeared to be a time of reflection for David, who shared a number of ‘best nine’ collages.
Among them was a collection of photos of his family, where he used the opportunity to gush over his clan.
‘2017 has been one to remember. I am blessed to have 3 girls in my life that I love dearly. They are my inspiration every single day. Bring on 2018 and beyond. I love my family,’ David wrote.

Another featured David’s favourite loved-up pictures of himself with his wife, next to which he explained: ‘I wouldn’t know where I’d be without this amazing lady in my life.
He added: ‘What more can I say than I love you and thank you for the memories of 2017. Caring, loving, mother and also a top wife. It’s been another amazing year and can’t thank you enough for being there for the girls and I, sacrifices you make for us is incredible and words don’t do it justice. We love you lots and lots happy new year my love.’
