This is not how to merge into another lane in peak hour traffic and give other motorists the fright of their lives.

Dash cam footage has captured the terrifying moment a car almost flipped onto its roof after another vehicle merged into its lane.

Filmed along a busy road in Sydney on Thursday afternoon (March 15), peak hour traffic proceeds after stopping at the lights when a red car almost becomes airborne when a Chrysler 300C tries to merge into her lane from the far left kerb.

The one minute’s worth of footage was posted on the Dash Cam Owners Australia’s Facebook page, where motorists suggest the merging driver was in the wrong.

‘Whether indicator on or not, you can not merge until it is 100 per cent clear to do, so merging driver must ensure it is safe to merge. Even a 10 year old kid knows that,’ one man commented.

A woman claiming to be the driver who was hit was happy to see the near miss had been captured on video.

‘This is going to help so much with the insurance process,’ she commented on the Facebook post.

‘I was the one the lady hit and she even has the nerve to blame me like it was my fault! She said ‘I indicated and you had enough space for me to merge in front of you. She didn’t even stop or come back just continued driving like nothing happened.’

According to the New South Wales road rules, merging motorists must give way to vehicles in the lane they are moving into.

‘Before changing lane, signal in plenty of time and check for other vehicles by looking in your mirrors and your blind spot,’ the rule book states.
